Code CVX
Overview
Complete
The CVX code system consists of 247 codes, giving a completeness index of 21%.
In principle, complementing the CVX, that corresponds to a vaccine type, with the MVX that identifies the producing laboratory, should give more matches. Yet the list of CVX+MVX codes matched against actual products counts only 175 entries. This is also because several CVX codes were created for products on clinical trials that did not reach the market.
Precise
221 CVX codes represent 681 concrete vaccines, giving a precision index of 32%.
When combined with MVX, the ambiguity decreases drastically since, generally, a given manufacturer produces at a given time only a single vaccine for a given function. Yet, ambiguities may subsist with the evolution of products across time and the frequent buyouts of products across laboratories. We did not find enough reference data to assess the unambiguousness of the CVX+MVX combination.
Informative
The CVX codes do not carry any codified information about the product. Their informativeness index is 0%.
Tolerant
The CVX designation will never correspond to the written trail. Its tolerance index is 0.
Inclusive
The CDC provides alignment tables of CVX with the US pharmaceutical codes (NDC) and procedural codes (CPT). These alignments can be downloaded from their web site or accessed from the Vaccine Code Set Management System (VCSMS ). With these two importable code systems, the digital inclusiveness index is evaluated to 4%.
Mappable
If complemented with the MVX and an administration date, it could be possible to translate back the CVX to another code system. Its translatability index is set to 50%.
